Family Services Specialist

Why We Need You

We are in the business of children! We’re looking to add an amazing Family Services Specialist to our team. You will be responsible for providing family support services, including School Readiness (SR) and Voluntary Pre-kindergarten (VPK), and coordinating with Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) staff to provide comprehensive CCR&R services. This position reports to the Family Services Manager.

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree and 2 years experience in social/human services program administration preferred; or
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant work experience in social/human services program required;
  • Knowledge of School Readiness and VPK eligibility/processes is highly preferred;
  • Demonstrative understanding of childcare programs, early childhood education, social service issues, community action programs, and serving low-income communities required based on experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, web-based programs, and databases
  • Intermediate mathematical skills
  • Ability to adapt readily to change
  • Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including providing technical programmatic information to a nontechnical audience
  • Ability to follow through on commitments, including deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with individuals of varying backgrounds and skill levels to achieve goals
  • Willingness and ability to travel to county offices as needed
  • Ability to follow instructions and comply with and support the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude and an example to others in the areas of problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal relationships, support of management decisions and commitment to ELC’s mission and vision

What You Will Do (Summary):

  • Maintain working knowledge of and adhere to all applicable rules, regulations, and ELC policies and procedures
  • Complete Child Care Resource and Referral Specialist evaluation (certification) within 90 days of hire
  • Provide comprehensive CCR&R services to customers
  • Determine customer eligibility for the SR and VPK programs
  • Complete specialized SR and VPK processes, as assigned
  • Participate as directed in all ELC quality improvement efforts to achieve optimum organizational performance including but not limited to, data edit reports and peer review activities
  • Participate in a minimum of two ELC Outreach activities and/or events within the fiscal year
  • Report suspected fraud (internal and/or external) immediately via ELC established Fraud Reporting Procedure
  • Contact the Abuse Hotline immediately in the event an allegation of abuse, neglect, or exploitation is received

Position: Full-time, Non-exempt Position of Special Trust.

Starting Salary: $36,000

Location: In person; hybrid eligible following successful completion of probationary period.
