Professional Development
One of the key components to creating and maintaining a quality child care program is providing early childhood teachers with the support, education, and resources needed to be successful in the classroom. The ELC provides a variety of professional development opportunities and support services to early childhood teachers. Our goal is to promote school readiness and improve the learning outcomes of young children by providing high-quality, up-to-date professional development. These opportunities improve the knowledge and skills of early childhood educators and caregivers.
Virtual Workshops
ELC 3342: Engaging Infants and Toddlers through Hands-On Activities
- Course Dates: May 13, 2025 – June 17, 2025
- 15-hour service (no fee) or 1.5 CEUs (fee: $28.00)
- Teachers can obtain CEUs to renew their FCCPC credential; the National CDA renewal requires in-service hours.
- Target Audience: Infant and Toddler Teachers
ELC 4717: A Treasure Chest of Books, Letters, Sounds, and Words!
- Course Dates: May 27, 2025 – June 27, 2025
- 10 hours in-service (no fee)
- Target Audience: PreK-VPK Teachers
ELC 6001: Leadership – Creating and Fostering a Sense of Place for Families
This is an on-demand course. A developing sense of place is linked to a sense of belonging. A sense of belonging contributes to children’s overall social and emotional development and is an essential aspect of school readiness Family connections are built on relationships that support and enrich each family’s needs. This time of year is great for reaching out and connecting with families. This course will give you many ideas, resources, and strategies to communicate, celebrate, and partner with families and create a genuinely family-centered program.

- 25-hour In-Service, no fee, or 2.5 CEUs (fee 38.00)
- Target Audience: Directors and Leaders! Meets DCF renewal requirements for the Director Credential- CEUs required by DCF
