Summer Human Resources Intern

The Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend Region (ELC) is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides services to families, children, and childcare providers in the seven counties that comprise northern Florida’s Big Bend Region: Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, and Wakulla.  

ELC seeks dynamic students who want hands-on internship experience to support the organization.

Important Facts: 

  • Internship positions are scheduled for at least 12 hours per week, and the ELC is flexible in scheduling intern hours around class schedules
  • This position will receive a stipend
  • Criminal background screening is required, and ELC participates in the E-Verify system 
  • One semester required; two semesters preferred

Qualifications: 

  • A Junior, Senior, or Graduate-level classification in Human Resources or related field and completion of at least one college-level Human Resources course
  • The candidate should have strong MS Office skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, be a team player, be detail-oriented, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • GPA equal to or greater than 3.0

Duties: 

  • Assist the HR team with administrating human resources policies, procedures, and programs
  • Assist with staff file management
  • Assist with benefits administration 
  • Assist on-boarding and off-boarding staff
  • Assist with training and professional development coordination 
  • Assist with the upkeep of the HR Management Information System tool. 
  • Assist with recruiting new employees 
  • Provide technical assistance and backup for HR
  • Create agendas and take notes at various meetings
  • Assist with preparing reports and monitoring data
