Summer Accounting Intern
The Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend Region (ELC) is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides services to families, children, and childcare providers in the seven counties that comprise northern Florida’s Big Bend Region: Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, and Wakulla.
To support the Finance Unit, ELC is seeking a dynamic student who wants hands-on internship experience in finance for Summer 2024.
Important Facts:
- Internship positions are scheduled for at least 12 hours per week. ELC is flexible about scheduling intern hours around class schedules
- This position will receive a stipend
- Criminal background screening is required, and the ELC participates in the E-Verify system
Qualifications:
- Junior, Senior, or Graduate-level classification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- The candidate should have strong MS Office skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, be a team player, be detail-oriented, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks to achieve the highest productivity while maintaining work quality.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP) and standard budgeting techniques
- GPA equal to or greater than 3.0
Duties:
- Review and gather supporting documentation for financial monitoring and fiscal audit
- Track audit and monitoring responses
- Prepare work papers that adequately document the tests performed and procedures followed to substantiate conclusions reached
- Research audit issues, utilizing electronic databases and review-tracking financial information utilizing audit-related software
- Assist with reconciliations as needed
