Community Relations Specialist

We are in the business of children! We’re looking to add a talented Community Relations Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for assisting in planning, developing, implementing, and promoting community awareness/outreach events, initiatives, campaigns, and fund development opportunities.
Why We Are Excited to Meet You:
- You have Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree and 1 years’ experience in a professional private or public sector environment preferred or
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent; 4 years’ experience in a professional private or public sector required
- You have excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
- You have demonstrative understanding of child care programs, early childhood education, social service issues, community action programs, and/or serving low-income communities.
Who You Are:
- You have excellent customer service, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- You are proficient with Microsoft Office products, web-based programs, and databases
- You can adapt readily to change
- You can communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including providing technical programmatic information to a non-technical audience
- You are willing to and ability to travel to county offices as requested
- You can work independently and collaboratively with individuals of varying backgrounds and skill levels to achieve goals
- You must exhibit a positive attitude and be an example to others in problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal relationships, and commitment to the organization’s mission and vision
What You Will Do (Summary):
- Help with agency-wide signature, community, outreach, and provider events, campaigns, resource fairs, and other special initiatives
- Assist with the coordination of various events and activities (including site visits, planning, logistics, and close-out)
- Responsible for efforts related to the “My First Books” program in all seven counties including the intake and distribution of children’s books (i.e., word garden coordination, celebrity reader, and other initiatives)
- Help with the coordination of ELC’s volunteer and practicum program including recruitment, placement, orientation, and reporting of all volunteer activities
- Create action and event plans for various agency activities, events, initiatives, and campaigns
- Research and analyze data, create presentations, and coordinate agency tours
- Manage various electronic tools that impact community relations
- Assist with developing and updating reports and documents for use during staff, board, and committee meetings
- Schedule, create agendas, and record notes for internal and external meetings
- Actively seek opportunities to promote the ELC to the community-at-large throughout the seven-county service region and track outcomes and return on investment
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate use of all resources by immediately reporting suspected fraud (internal and/or external) via ELC-established Fraud Reporting Procedure
- Participate as directed in all ELC quality improvement efforts to achieve optimum organizational performance
- Perform other job duties as assigned

Position: Full-time
Salary Range: $34,000 – $37,000
