Community Relations Intern (Fall Semester)

September 2, 2025 – December 5, 2025

The Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend Region (ELC) is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides services to families, children, and childcare providers in the seven counties that comprise northern Florida’s Big Bend Region: Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, and Wakulla. 

The ELC seeks dynamic students who want a hands-on internship experience to support various departments and units.

Important Facts: 

• Internship positions are scheduled for at least 12 hours per week and the ELC is flexible with scheduling intern hours around class schedules 
• This position will receive a stipend
• Criminal background screen required and ELC participates in the E-Verify system
• One semester required; two semesters preferred

Qualifications: 

• Junior, Senior, or Graduate-level classification in Business, Hospitality/Tourism, or Public Relations, or related field  
• Candidate should have strong MS Office skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, be a team player, and be detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks to achieve the highest productivity while maintaining work quality
• Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
• GPA equal to or greater than 3.0  

Duties: 

• Assist with the development of signature event, campaigns, initiatives and meeting planning
• Assist with the management of various events and activities (including planning, and logistics). 
• Assist in proactive community outreach
• Assist with child care resources
• Assist with the facilitation of internal and external communications
• Assist with preparing action plans, program and close-out reports
