Early Care and Education Specialist

We are in the business of children!

We’re looking to add a dedicated Early Care and Education Specialist to our team. This position is responsible for providing support services for intervention and quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree and two (2) years’ experience in early childhood education, human services program or related field
  • High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years relevant work experience in early childhood education, human services program or related field required 
  • One year’s experience working as an administrator or teacher within an early childhood setting preferred  
  • Two years’ experience creating and delivering group and individualized instruction preferred 
  • Experience working with special needs children preferred 
  • An understanding of child care programs, early childhood education, social service issues, community action programs, and serving low-income communities 
  • Complete and become certified in at least one Infant, Toddler, and/or PreK CLASS tool within 90 days of hire  
  • Complete Child Assessment, Teacher Assessment, and Coaching certification within one year of hire 

What You Will Do (Summary):

  • Administer child screenings/assessments on School Readiness participants  
  • Administer program assessments in School Readiness and Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) provider classrooms 
  • Assist with determining appropriate early intervention services for all School Readiness and VPK children, including Warm Line referrals  
  • Assist with inputting, collecting, and analyzing data to identify emerging trends and training needs for the ELC’s providers and families 
  • Provide recommendations to the ECE Manager for children with concerns who ELC will refer to other early intervention agencies  
  • Develop and implement professional development opportunities, special events, conferences and forums for providers 
  • Provide TA and Coaching to early childhood educators and parents as needed.  
  • Maintain knowledge of law, policies & procedures 
  • Deliver services and provide timely follow-up   in accordance with law 
  • Assist with compiling resources, creating packets, and arranging resource areas for parents and providers throughout the seven-county area 
  • Assist with internal and external audits to ensure accuracy and compliance   
  • Participate in structured peer review activities to evaluate work quality, ensure consistency, and support continuous improvement across the team 
  • Participate in a minimum of two ELC outreach events and/or activities each fiscal year  
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate use of all resources by immediately reporting suspected fraud (Internal and/or external) via ELC-established Fraud Reporting Procedure 
  • Participate as directed in all ELC quality improvement efforts to achieve optimum organizational performance 
  • Contact the Abuse Hotline immediately in the event an allegation of abuse, neglect, or exploitation is received, and notify a manager immediately

Position: Full-time, Non-exempt Position of Special Trust.

Salary Range: $40,000
